The Power for August: Will

The Power for this month is represented by the disciple Matthew. Matthew was a tax collector before he became Jesus’ disciple. The co-ordinating colour is silver, sometimes represented as grey. The physical location for this power is in the center of the brain.

Affirmation:
"I am open, receptive and willing to accept God’s will."

The development of Will comes through the many surrenderings of old ways. No matter how well you understand spiritual laws, unless you are willing to live by them, they are not useful to you. For instance, if you are not willing to forgive, the cleansing activity of forgiveness cannot move through you.

Actually, you must choose willingness over wilfulness. Learn to say "Thy will, not mine". Willingness is always constructive in consciousness building. Willfulness is always destructive, because it lacks the courage to depend on God for having needs met, and at the same time, ignores spiritual laws.

Willingness acknowledges the facts but moves according to inner instruction. It is not always easy to obey your inner instructions. Put courage into your thinking and feeling when you are shaken by God’s instructions. Be courageous in spite of the facts, and facts will adjust to the revelation that God wants only good for you.

Your Will is the great permission-giver of your consciousness. When you give the command, your Will moves all other spiritual gifts into action, but you must give the command. Give love permission over anger; give faith permission over appearances. Will determines character formation. As you become willing to be wiser, stronger and more creative, your are building character. Turn to the Christ within and meet the ability that will overcome all challenges. Trust that inner Christ to give you greater peace and harmony in your life as you continue to choose willingness.
